Created the “PGE Festival of Lights Holiday Parade. The parade has become a community favorite on the second Saturday of December each year. Over 50-thousand people watch lighted holiday entries as they parade by.

Started talent contests and pretty baby contests at both the Marion and Polk County Fairs. These events have become regular events.

The “Star Trees” lighting was a combined effort of Maynard Drawson and Warren Franklin. Many consider the “Star Tree” lighting the largest holiday tree lighting in the world. It includes five redwood trees in a circle all standing around 170 feet tall. The event has become a Willamette University tradition.

In the summer you can find Warren Franklin announcing at major community events around the area. He has been the voice of the Salem Art Fair, Bite of Salem and Clackamas County Fair for years. You’ll find him announcing destruction derbies at the Clark County Fair in Vancouver, Washington and Oregon State Fair in Salem. He has announced the Oregon State Fair Talent contest for well over ten years.

Warren Franklin:

His wife, Nancy, and Warren live in Salem, Oregon. They have lived there for nearly 20-years. They have four pets, they call them their kids, all cats who rule the roost. Together they have three children - all of them are grown up and living around the Pacific Northwest.

Warren graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. Over the years He has worked in radio as an announcer, sales, sales management, radio station manager, promotions, morning personality and more. He has worked in small and medium sized markets because he likes being involved in community events and activities and making a difference in those communities. He says you can make a big difference in smaller and mid-size communities.

Here are organizations Warren Franklin has participated in while in Salem, Oregon: Salem Rotary, American Red Cross, Salem Convention & Visitor’s Association, Salem Chamber Orchestra, Humane Society of the Willamette Valley, Festival of Light’s Holiday Parade, United Way of the Willamette Valley, Salem YMCA, and many others. Warren is a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross.
